Fabric Software Development Platform (FSDP) Webinar Series

The OpenFabrics Alliance (OFA) is excited to announce the launch of our highly anticipated Fabric Software Development Platform (FSDP) project. The FSDP is a vendor-neutral matrix test cluster owned and maintained by the OFA for the benefit of its members to develop, test, and validate new and existing network technologies. FSDP offers OFA members an opportunity for serious cost reduction in testing, validation, and development, and provides an invaluable service to open source community maintainers as they support open source networking software integration.

The FSDP is intended to cover a large breadth of hardware in a few machines so that software can be validated for functionality and compatibility with a variety of fabric types, including InfiniBand, Omni-Path Architecture, RoCE, and iWARP.  It contains host adapter cards from multiple vendors so that cross vendor compatibility can also be tested.

To help the OFA Community prepare to use the FSDP, the OFA will offer a three-part webinar series starting the second week of January 2022. Details on the webinars, including dates/times, topics to be covered, and registration information can be found below:

  • Date/Time:
    • Wednesday, January 12, 2022, at 10AM-11AM Pacific Time
  • Summary:
    • This webinar will cover the basic aspects getting started on the FSDP, including:
      • Setting up an account on the FSDP cluster
      • Accessing the cluster via VPN
      • Introduction to the Beaker web management interface
      • Checking out and provisioning machines for use
      • Logging in to the machines after they have been installed
      • Logging in to the build server in the cluster
      • Downloading test software to machines that have been provisioned
      • More items of interest in the cluster

  • Title:
  • Date/Time:
    • Wednesday, January 19, 2022, at 10AM-11:30AM Pacific Time
  • Summary:
    • The cluster uses the Restraint test harness that is part of the Beaker project. This webinar will provide a detailed overview of the test harness and the Job XML files used to create automated tests. It will cover specific items in the FSDP cluster designed to allow users to select proper machines for their test needs.

  • Title:
  • Date/Time:
    • Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 10AM-11:30AM Pacific Time
  • Summary:
    • Building on the information from the API webinar, this will focus on actual tests. This webinar includes multiple live demos of the tests in the cluster and usage of the beaker command line tool to run those tests.

  • Title:
    • How to do manual RDMA testing using the FSDP Cluster & How to setup RDMA CI using the FSDP Cluster <PLAY VIDEO>
  • Date/Time:
    • Tuesday, April 23, 2024, from 1PM-2PM Pacific Time
  • Summary:
    • This demonstration shows how to set up RDMA testing and CI across fabric available in the FSDP cluster, using as an example a patch which adds RDMA support to Redis DB.
